Torre del Castello di Ruttars
Italy, Italy
Torre del Castello di Ruttars is a well-preserved medieval gate tower located in the fortified village of Ruttars, in the Collio hills of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Although the site's history is not fully documented and has often been confused with the nearby Castle of Trussio, records show that the village of Ruttars was sold by the Patriarch of Aquileia in 1289. Today, the most notable surviving features are the square entrance tower, a small bridge that once likely supported a drawbridge, and sections of the defensive wall that enclosed the village.
