Torre di Rubone
Italy, Italy
Torre di Rubone is a historic fortified tower located near the small settlement of Rubone in Bernate Ticino, Lombardy. The structure was built before the 18th century and likely dates back to the late medieval period, when it served a defensive and surveillance role along the Naviglio Grande, one of northern Italy’s most important waterways. The tower is constructed of masonry and features brick decorative details, including characteristic dentil cornices and terracotta-framed windows. It is believed to be one of the few surviving watchtowers that once monitored traffic and movement along the canal. Today, the tower remains a notable landmark of the Ticino area and a reminder of the region’s medieval past.
