Torre Paleologa

Italy, Italy

Torre Paleologa is a historic medieval tower located in San Salvatore Monferrato, in the Piedmont region of Italy. Built in 1413 by Theodore II Palaiologos, Marquis of Monferrato, it served as part of a defensive and signaling network that helped protect and monitor the surrounding territory. Rising about 24 meters high on a hilltop, the tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area. Its distinctive feature is a large opening on one side, marking the location of the original entrance. From the hill, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the Monferrato countryside and the Alpine range. Today, Torre Paleologa is valued as an important symbol of the region’s medieval history and heritage. Surrounded by a public park, it attracts visitors interested in history, architecture, and scenic panoramas.
