The Tower of Teodolinda is a medieval tower located on Via Lambro in the historic center of Monza. Despite its name, it was not built by Queen Theodelinda, who lived in the 6th and 7th centuries. The structure dates to the 13th century and originally formed part of the city’s defensive system. Over time, the tower became one of Monza’s main gateways, known as Porta Lambro, where goods entering the city from the nearby Lambro River were monitored and taxed. It was associated with the Pessina family, who managed these duties. The tower is notable for its well-preserved medieval architecture, including arched windows, decorative stonework, and Guelph-style battlements. Today it remains a distinctive landmark and an important reminder of Monza’s medieval past, even though it is now used as a private residence.
