Verified Trippstadt House

Trippstadt, Germany, Germany

Trippstadt House, also known as Trippstadter Schloss or Barockschloss Trippstadt, is an elegant 18th-century Baroque palace in Trippstadt, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, constructed between 1764 and 1767 as a summer residence by Franz Karl Joseph von Hacke and his wife Amöna Marie Charlotte Juliane Sturmfeder von Oppenweiler to designs by architect Sigmund Jacob Haeckher.

Featuring a single-wing, two-story structure with a richly decorated gable relief above the entrance, it pioneered the Palatinate's first lightning conductor installed in 1776 by physicist Johann Jakob Hemmer and boasted a formal French garden by Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell around 1780 extending into the scenic Karlstal valley.

Damaged by French Revolutionary troops in 1794, it passed through private hands including Ludwig von Gienanth before Bavarian state acquisition in 1865, serving as a forestry office and school from 1885 until post-WWII, with the restored site now housing the Rhineland-Palatinate State Forestry Research Institute.
