The Universität Freiburg Botanical Garden is a historic scientific facility of the University of Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the country founded in 1620 as a Hortus Medicus for medicinal plant studies.

Relocated several times due to wars, floods, and urban expansion most recently to its current 4.5-hectare site in the Herdern district in 1914, it now houses over 8,000 plant species across themed outdoor areas representing global biomes like alpine meadows, marshes, dunes, and Mediterranean zones, plus four exhibition greenhouses for tropicals, ferns, cacti, and succulents.

Organized around an evolutionary "family tree" concept updated for modern research on Black Forest fossils and plant biomechanics, it serves teaching, conservation, and public enjoyment with free access, ponds, century-old trees, and seasonal blooms in a serene urban green space.
