Urdihuset AS
Bergen, Norway, Norway
Urdihuset AS operates from Urdi House, a protected late Empire-style manor in Bergen's Gyldenpris neighborhood, built around 1840 likely by town surveyor Ole Peter Riis Høegh.
Originally a bishop's residence and merchants' summer retreat known as Uren, it was renamed Urdi in 1895 by artist couple Olav and Frida Rusti, who turned it into a hub for musicians and artists, hosting Norway's first national Hardanger fiddle competition in 1896 with Edvard Grieg in attendance.
Protected since 1927, it passed to artists' groups in 1956 and later the Bergen Parapsychological Union in 1991; today, under Urdihuset AS ownership, it serves as a restaurant, art studio, gallery, and event space for weddings, yoga, and dining.
