Usedoms Botanischer Garten is a private botanical garden located in Mellenthin on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom in northern Germany. Built between 2006 and 2008 and opened on May 1, 2009, it is the largest botanical garden in the Vorpommern region, covering 60,000 square meters (about 6 hectares) or roughly the size of ten football fields. The garden features more than 50,000 winter-hardy plants representing approximately 1,000 different species, primarily showcasing local native flora from the area. It is organized into 10 themed sections or individual gardens, including areas for early spring bloomers, garden ponds, shrub plantings, and autumn bloomers, with plants blooming sequentially from spring through late autumn so the garden's appearance changes constantly throughout the year. Visitors can find around 80 benches for resting, see plants labeled on bilingual German-Polish signs (some also in Latin), and enjoy the peaceful setting away from the busy seaside resorts of Usedom. The garden is open daily from May 1 to October 31 between 10:00 and 20:00, charges an admission fee, and does not allow dogs.
