Venedigerloch
Bad Urach, Germany, Germany
Venedigerloch near Bad Urach is the popular name for a large cave in the Schorrenfelsen, a steep rock face above the Ermstal, which once served as the fortified Höhlenburg Schorren in the 12th and 13th centuries.
The site lies at about 680 meters above sea level roughly 1 kilometer north of Sirchingen and is essentially a long, 30‑meter‑deep cave that has been adapted into two internal sections, with only the natural cavity and faint masonry traces still visible today.
Access to the cave interior is now restricted for nature‑protection and safety reasons, and the steep, exposed climb to the entrance is considered hazardous, so visitors usually just view the striking opening from the forested hillside as part of a short hike in the Bad Urach area.
