Victory Square

Victory Square is one of the most important memorial sites in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Opened in 1985 to mark the 40th anniversary of the war’s end, it serves as a place of remembrance for the soldiers and civilians who sacrificed their lives during the conflict. At the center of the square stands the distinctive Victory Monument, featuring three red granite arches shaped like a traditional Kyrgyz yurt.

Beneath them is a sculpture of a woman waiting for her husband to return from war, symbolizing the sorrow and hope experienced by countless families. An eternal flame burns nearby in honor of the fallen. Today, Victory Square is both a historic landmark and a gathering place for national ceremonies, especially on Victory Day each year.
