Waikiki is a famous neighborhood and beach district in Honolulu, on the south shore of Oʻahu, Hawaii, known historically as a royal Hawaiian resort area and now a major global tourist destination. Its name means "spouting fresh water," reflecting the natural springs that once nourished the land. Today, Waikiki is lined with luxury hotels and world-class resorts and is celebrated for its soft white sand beach, much of which has been replenished due to erosion.

It offers calm waters ideal for surfing, famously popularized by Hawaiian Olympic swimmer Duke Kahanamoku, who taught visitors to surf there at the beginning of the 20th century. Visitors enjoy a vibrant array of activities including surfing lessons, canoeing, snorkeling, and hiking the nearby Diamond Head crater.
