Dornum, Germany, Germany
Wasserschloss Norderburg in Dornum, Germany, is a baroque moated castle originally built in the 14th century by chieftain Hicko Kankena as one of three local strongholds.
Transformed in 1698-1707 by Haro Joachim von Closter into an imposing four-wing complex with an outer bailey, it features ornate portals, gabled pediments, family coats of arms, sculptures, mottoes, and a 30-meter tower added to the 1678 gatehouse, blending Renaissance remnants with Dutch baroque style.
