Wasserschloss Wülmersen
Trendelburg, Germany, Germany
Wasserschloss Wülmersen is a medieval moated manor (Rittergut) dating to the 12th century in Wülmersen, a hamlet of Trendelburg in Germany's Kassel district, nestled at the edge of Reinhardswald Nature Park between the Holzape stream and Diemel River.
First documented in 1108 as a Paderborn bishop's farmstead and later a fief of the Ritter von Stockhausen until 1848, it featured protective water ditches on its southeast side until the 19th century, evolving from agricultural use into a modern youth and leisure facility run by Kassel County.
Today, the lovingly restored estate offers a LandMuseum in historic buildings, a cozy café/kiosk, group accommodations for 35-40 guests, a tent meadow, self-catering kitchen, workshops, wedding venue, and summer cultural events in the manor ruins, ideal for cyclists on the Diemel Cycle Path and hikers seeking immersive local history.
