Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster
Banner Elk, United States
Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster in Banner Elk, North Carolina, opened in 2020 as the state's first alpine coaster, family-owned and operated on a 3,160-foot track built by a top German company with three circular loops, waves, twists, and turns reaching speeds up to 27 mph under rider control via brakes for customizable thrills suitable for all ages.
Riders ascend 770 feet by cable lift before gravity-fed descents lasting about five minutes in individual carts holding one adult or an adult with a small child, with advance reservations required to manage crowds and bundles for multiple consecutive rides without reloading.
Complementing the coaster on the six-acre site are a clubhouse, observation deck, gift shop, coffee shop, and adjacent Wilderness Run Adventure Course with treetop climbing, swinging, and dangling, operating year-round daily near Sugar Mountain for high-energy mountain fun.
