Woodlands Garden in Decatur, Georgia, was established in 2002 when the Morse family donated their seven-acre wooded estate to be permanently preserved as a public green space.

The garden features a diverse collection of native plants and trees characteristic of the North Georgia Piedmont, including ferns, wildflowers, vines, and shrubs. It serves as an urban sanctuary focused on educating and engaging the community with the natural world, providing a peaceful retreat from the busy city environment. Woodlands Garden hosts educational programs, community events, and workshops, often involving local schools, volunteers, and organizations.

The garden’s design maintains a largely natural woodland setting, emphasizing native biodiversity, and includes trails, sitting areas, pollinator gardens, and a visitor center housed in the original family home.
