Barbados
Barbados is an island country at the easternmost part of the Caribbean, situated about 160 kilometers east of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The capital is Bridgetown, and the population is approximately 264,300 as of 2025. English is the official language, and the currency is the Barbados dollar. Barbados is largely flat, with coral reefs surrounding much of the coast.
Formerly a British colony, it became independent in 1966 and transitioned to a parliamentary republic in 2021. The economy is mainly based on tourism and sugar, with a growing financial sector. Most residents are of African descent.
