Nigeria is a vibrant country in West Africa, bordered by Benin, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and the Gulf of Guinea. It covers about 923,768 square kilometers, making it one of the largest countries in Africa. With a population estimated at over 230 million, Nigeria is Africa’s most populous nation and the sixth largest in the world. Nigeria is home to more than 250 ethnic groups, with over 500 languages spoken.

The three largest are the Hausa (north), Yoruba (west), and Igbo (east), together representing over 60% of the population. English is the official language, helping to bridge communication among the different peoples. Nigeria is almost evenly split between Muslims (mainly in the north) and Christians (mainly in the south), with indigenous religions in the minority.

The geography of Nigeria is highly varied, from arid savannah in the north to lush rainforests in the south. Major rivers include the Niger and Benue, which meet at the country’s center. Nigeria’s climate is mostly tropical, with wet and dry seasons.
