Aktun Chen
Mexico, Mexico
Aktun Chen is a privately run eco‑park on the Yucatán Peninsula, about midway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum near Akumal, set within a 400‑acre reserve of jungle and caves.
Its name comes from Mayan words meaning “cave” and “well,” and the park centers on a large cenote, underground river, and a dry cave system with dramatic stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations that have been highlighted by groups such as the National Geographic Society.
Visitors can take guided cave walks, snorkel or swim in the clear cenote water, ride ziplines through the jungle canopy, and see local wildlife, all within a site designed to blend adventure with conservation of the region’s forests and fauna.
