After mining declined, the hacienda was briefly used as a hospital in the early 20th century before falling into disuse. In 1951, Don Manuel Quezada Brandy transformed the site into a hotel designed to resemble a medieval castle, opening in 1952 with 20 rooms.
The hotel has since expanded to 110 rooms and hosted many important guests, including European royalty and celebrities. It features castle-like architecture with turrets and ivy-draped walls, blending historical charm with modern amenities and is a popular setting for films and social events, standing as a unique cultural landmark in Guanajuato.
