Batería de Urrutia is a 19th-century coastal artillery battery located at Punta del Boquerón on Camposoto beach in San Fernando, Cádiz province, Spain, built during the Napoleonic Siege of Cádiz (1810-1812) as part of the defensive network protecting the southern entrance to Islote de Sancti Petri alongside Castillo de Sancti Petri, Batería de Aspiroz, and Batería de San Genís. Named after General José de Urrutia y de las Casas, founder of Spain's military engineering corps, this two-tiered fortification with merlones, parapets, and 9-13 cannons of 24- and 16-pound calibers controlled the Caño de Sancti Petri and Avenidas de Chiclana to prevent French naval incursions toward the Arsenal de La Carraca. Its garrison from Regimiento San Marcial sublevó in 1823 to support the Duke of Angulema's Cien Mil Hijos de San Luis restoring absolutist King Fernando VII, and the well-preserved ruins—protected since 1949 and 1985 as BIC—stand amid Cádiz Bay's marshy defenses.
