Torre de La Plaça
Spain, Spain
Torre de La Plaça, also known as Torre de l'Àngel, is a well-preserved 11th-century Moorish watchtower embedded in the historic fabric of Valencia's Plaça de l'Àngel, part of the ancient Islamic city walls built during the Taifa of Valencia era.
Constructed from robust stone as one of several defensive circular towers along the perimeter, it survived the Reconquista expansions and later city wall demolitions, later integrated into a 1701 hotel that was destroyed by the 1957 flood, leaving the tower amid a small modern park.
Today, this modest yet evocative remnant stands as a testament to Valencia's layered medieval past, visible alongside fragments of the old wall in the bustling old town.
