Benmore Botanic Garden, located on the Cowal Peninsula in Scotland, is set in a dramatic mountainside landscape and covers over 120 acres of woodland gardens, shrubberies, and a pinetum.

Its history dates back to around 1820 when the land began to be planted with conifers, including the internationally famous Redwood Avenue of giant sequoias planted in 1863. The estate was developed through the efforts of various owners, including James Duncan, who extensively planted millions of trees and created scenic pathways like Puck’s Glen. In 1929, the garden became the first outstation of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, specializing in plants suited for the wet climate.

Benmore features formal walled gardens, a historic Victorian fernery, ponds, waterfalls, and scenic walking trails. It is noted for its rich collection of conifers, rhododendrons, and other rare plants, making it a remarkable botanical attraction with a blend of historical development and natural beauty.
