Blatná Castle in the South Bohemian Region of Czechia is a well-preserved water castle with a rich history dating back to the 13th century.

Originally a fortified stronghold belonging to the noble Bavors of Strakonice, it evolved from a wooden fortress into a Gothic stone castle by the 14th century, featuring a moat and surrounding marshes turned into water defenses. Over the centuries, the castle underwent various architectural changes, including Gothic renovations and Renaissance additions by notable owners such as the Rožmitál family.

The noble Jaroslav Lev of Rožmitál, an influential figure and diplomat in the 15th century, enhanced the castle with Gothic elements and frescoes inspired by his travels across Europe.

Owned by the Hildprandt family since the late 18th century, the castle was expropriated during the communist regime but was returned to the family in 1999. Today, Blatná Castle is celebrated as a cultural monument and a striking example of evolving architectural styles in a picturesque environment of parks and water, remaining one of the Czech Republic's finest water castles.
