Budeč is an important historical site located near Zákolany in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, about 15 kilometers northwest of Prague.

It is renowned as one of the oldest preserved settlements in the country, with origins dating back to prehistoric times, including the Bronze Age. The site is particularly famous for its early medieval fortification, built in the 9th century by the Přemyslid dynasty, and for the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, a rotunda constructed shortly after 895, making it the oldest standing building in the Czech Republic.

Budeč is also closely associated with Saint Wenceslaus, who is legendarily said to have studied there in his youth. Archaeological excavations have revealed evidence of early Slavic settlement, fortifications, and numerous historical artifacts, emphasizing its significance as a symbol of Czech statehood and spiritual history.
