Bunmahon Beach
Republic of Ireland, Ireland
Bunmahon Beach is a 5 km long sandy beach on the Copper Coast of County Waterford in the Republic of Ireland, backed by dunes and framed by high cliffs at either end, giving it a sheltered yet dramatic feel.
It sits beside the coastal village of Bunmahon at the mouth of the River Mahon and forms part of the Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark, an area known for its mining history and striking coastal geology. The beach is popular with families, surfers, and holidaymakers, has a playground, caravan park, and seasonal surf school, and recently regained Blue Flag status for improved summer water quality, but strong waves and rip currents mean that only experienced swimmers should go far out and everyone is advised to take care, especially outside lifeguard hours.
