Buñol Castle
Buñol, Spain, Spain
Buñol Castle, located in the town of Buñol in Valencia, Spain, dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries as a Muslim fortress and underwent significant reforms in the 15th century after its conquest by Christian forces.
Strategically positioned on a hill between the Borrunes ravine and the Buñol River, at the border of Valencia and Castile, it changed hands multiple times, was ransacked over the centuries, and features two enclosures separated by artificial moats connected by a bridge.
Though abandoned in the 19th century, it has been recovered and now stands as a medieval landmark offering scenic views of the town, popular during events like La Tomatina.
