Cahercommaun is one of Ireland’s most impressive ancient stone forts, located near Kilnaboy and Carran in the Burren region of County Clare. Built around the 9th century, it is a remarkable triple-ring stone fort perched on the edge of a limestone cliff, with the natural landscape forming part of its defenses. Archaeological excavations have revealed that the site once contained stone houses, underground chambers, and a thriving community of around 40 to 50 people.
