Carrickoris Castle, also known as Carrick Castle, is a medieval ruin located on Carrick Hill in County Kildare, beside the remains of an old church and graveyard. The site includes the remains of an earlier hall-house dating from the 13th or 14th century and a later tower addition, reflecting several phases of medieval construction and occupation. The castle is most famous for its association with the “Holy Trinity Massacre” of 1306, when Piers de Bermingham allegedly invited leading members of the O'Conor Faly clan to a feast and then had them killed, an event remembered as one of the most notorious acts of treachery in medieval Irish history. Today, the surviving walls, windows, and tower ruins stand in a peaceful rural setting, offering visitors a glimpse into Ireland’s turbulent medieval past. Its combination of historical significance, architectural remains, and dramatic local legends makes Carrickoris Castle an intriguing heritage site.
