Castell d'Ambra
Pego, Spain, Spain
Castell d'Ambra, also known as the Castle of Ambra or Castell de Pego, is a ruined Arab fortress perched on a rocky ridge of Ambra Mountain in the Migdia range above Pego, Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain.
Built in the early 13th century as an Almohad stronghold, it controlled access to the Ebo Valley, serving as a defensive outpost and refuge during the Christian Reconquest under James I of Aragon.
Today, its sparse stone remnants offer hikers stunning panoramic views of surrounding valleys and wetlands, highlighting Pego's medieval Islamic heritage amid the Marina Alta's rugged interior.
