Castell de Cervelló
Cervelló, Spain, Spain
Castell de Cervelló in Cervelló, Catalonia, Spain, is a medieval fortress perched on a hilltop at 317 meters in the Ordal mountains, overlooking the Llobregat valley and first documented in 904 AD.
Featuring a polygonal ground plan adapted to the terrain with reddish stone walls and a trapezoidal tower, it endured Arab invasions and later conflicts until partial demolition during the War of Succession in 1714, now existing partly in ruins amid surrounding vegetation.
Recognized as a Cultural Asset of National Interest, recent restorations including a chapel rehabilitation highlight its Romanesque architecture and role in Catalonia's medieval defense systems, near the church of Santa Maria de Cervelló.
