Castell de Lillet
Spain, Spain
Castell de Lillet in La Pòbla de Lillet, Berguedà region of Catalonia, Spain, consists of the ruins of a 9th-century fortress perched on a large rock near the Torrent de Junyent stream, strategically built as a frontier defense during the Marca Hispánica era.
Reinforced in the 14th century under the Mataplana lords, it remained active until the 15th century, when it fell into disuse amid shifting regional powers, leaving behind remnants of walls and towers amid the scenic Llobregat valley.
Recognized as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (RI-51-0005594), the site offers hikers panoramic views and historical insight into medieval border fortifications near Gaudí's Artigas Gardens.
