Castell de Montesquiu in Montesquiu, Catalonia, Spain, began as a 9th-century watchtower built by Count Guifré el Velloso at the Pyrenees gateway, evolving into a medieval manor house by the 14th century under lords like Arnau Guillem de Besora.

Expanded in the 17th century by Lluís Descatllar with a chapel and northeastern sector, and transformed early 20th century by Emili Juncadella into its current castle-like appearance complete with Gothic staircase, cistern, fountain, and gardens, it blends Romanesque, Gothic, and later styles.

 Now part of Parc del Castell de Montesquiu and owned by Barcelona's Diputació since 1976, the preserved site symbolizes regional history amid scenic natural surroundings.
