Castell de Pallejà
Pallejà, Spain, Spain
Castell de Pallejà in Pallejà, Baix Llobregat near Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, is a Renaissance palace-castle erected in 1590 by nobleman Ramon Martí de Torrelles upon the foundations of a pre-existing medieval tower documented since 1179.
Evolving from a defensive structure to a residential manor, it later functioned as a hotel in the 18th century and military barracks during the Spanish War of Independence, before thorough restoration in the 1990s preserved its Gothic and Renaissance features like stone facades and vaulted interiors.
Now serving as Pallejà's town hall and housing the municipal library, the well-maintained site blends historical architecture with public civic functions in the heart of the town.
