Castell de Penàguila is a medieval fortress of Muslim origin overlooking the village of Penàguila in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain, at the foot of the Sierra de Aitana amid olive and almond terraces.
Built in the late 13th to early 14th century for military defense during frontier conflicts, the walled rectangular settlement featured towers and enclosures granted by James I in 1276, later fortified under Peter III of Aragon and held by noble families like the Fenollars before becoming a royal town.
Today, ruins of walls and towers blend into the scenic Pre-Baetic landscape near the historic Jardin de Santos, offering hikers panoramic mountain views and a glimpse into Alcoià region's Reconquista-era heritage.
