Castell de Rocabertí is a medieval rock castle perched on a steep granite cone overlooking La Jonquera in the Alt Empordà region of Girona province, Catalonia, Spain, first documented in 948 as the seat of the powerful Rocabertí viscounts who controlled it until acquiring Peralada mid-13th century.

Strategically positioned to guard the Portús and Panissars passes near the French border, it featured in key conflicts like the 1138 dispute between the Counts of Barcelona and Empúries—leading to a pact mandating its partial demolition alongside Quermançó Castle—and the 1285 Battle of Panissars during Aragonese-French wars, with later 1462 fortifications amid invasion fears.

Today, its evocative ruins—including a triangular tower, rock-cut cistern, entry portal, vaulted chambers, and remnants of a 12th-century chapel to Sant Romà—reveal multiple construction phases amid the Albères mountain frontier landscape.
