Castell de Santa Engràcia
Spain, Spain
Castell de Santa Engràcia is a medieval castle ruin from the 11th century located in the village of Santa Engràcia, now part of Tremp municipality in Lleida province, Catalonia, Spain.
Documented since 1057, it was one of six castles endowed by Count Artau I of Pallars Sobirà to his wife Lucía, sister of Countess Almodis de Barcelona, later passing to Counts Ramon Berenguer I and Almodis as a frontier stronghold.
Today, only the lower section of a circular tower, about 3 meters high with a 5-meter interior diameter, and traces of adjacent buildings remain, constructed in simple 11th-century masonry and designated a Bien de Interés Cultural.
