Castell Del Comte De Sicart
Vila-seca, Spain, Spain
Castell del Comte de Sicart in Vila-seca, Tarragona province, Spain, originated in the 12th century as a defensive tower known as Torre dels Olzina, built during the Christian repopulation of Camp de Tarragona to protect locals from raiders.
It passed through families like Olzina, Saportella, and Cardona before being sold in 1683 to Dutch consul Joan Kies, who adapted it into a rural home, and in 1899 to Isidre Sicart i Torrents, who commissioned architect Enric Fatjó to transform it into a neo-Gothic palace blending medieval and northern European styles.
Acquired by Vila-seca Town Council in 2005, it underwent extensive restoration and now serves as a cultural exhibition space within a planned park alongside modernized historic buildings.
