Originally built by Guifré el Pilós and expanded through noble families like Montcada, Rocafort, and Amat—earning marquess status—it endured Arab attacks in 1012, Remensa peasant revolts in 1485, and deliberate destruction in 1719 by its owner to thwart miquelets, leaving mainly the western rectangular building with Romanesque tower remnants, cistern, and ruined Sant Miquel chapel.

Now privately owned as a farmhouse and designated Cultural Asset of National Interest, the ruins offer panoramic Montserrat views alongside the nearby Romanesque Sant Vicenç church, reflecting centuries of strategic military and feudal significance.
