Castelo de Naraío
Spain, Spain
Castelo de Naraío is a 13th-14th century medieval fortress ruin built by the powerful Andrade family on solid rock beside the Castro River in Naraío parish, San Sadurniño municipality, A Coruña province, Galicia, northwestern Spain.
Featuring unique granite construction with an irregular floor plan adapted to the terrain within the protected Xuvia-Castro area, it served as a strategic stronghold amid feudal rivalries. Likely destroyed or damaged during the 1467 Irmandiño revolts against noble lords like the Andrades, the preserved remains include walls and foundations, designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural reflecting Galicia's turbulent medieval history.
