Constructed by local nobility amid feudal conflicts between Galicia and Portugal, its robust granite structure features ashlar masonry, narrow arrow slits, and a strategic hilltop position overlooking valleys and ancient routes near the Limia River, exemplifying rural Galician military architecture.
Largely ruined today after Irmandiño revolts and centuries of neglect, the surviving tower remnants blend into the landscape near Iron Age castros, offering a glimpse into the region's turbulent border history.
