Castelo Ramiro ou Castelo de Miraflor
Spain, Spain
Castelo Ramiro, also known as Castelo de Miraflor, was a medieval fortress built in the late 12th century by the bishops of Ourense in Cabeza de Vaca near the city, Galicia, Spain, to assert control over the region amid feudal conflicts.
It served as Ourense's primary stronghold through the Middle Ages, strategically positioned for defense and oversight of key routes, changing hands during wars between nobles, the Church, and royalty before repeated demolitions and reconstructions.
Today, only scant ruins remain of this once-mighty castle, a testament to its turbulent history of sieges and destruction, now largely lost to urban development.
