Castillo de Aguilar del Río Alhama is a 12th-century medieval fortress dominating the hilltop above the town of Aguilar del Río Alhama in La Rioja, northern Spain, strategically positioned along the historic frontier between Castile, Aragon, and Navarre.

First documented in 1186 as a Muslim stronghold later conquered during the Reconquista, its imposing ruins feature remnants of defensive walls, towers, and a keep that controlled the vital Alhama River valley trade routes. 

Nestled amid vineyards and agricultural plains, the site exemplifies La Rioja's rugged defensive architecture on the Route of the Castles, offering panoramic views despite significant deterioration over centuries.
