Castillo de Arándiga
Arándiga, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Arándiga is a 12th-century fortress located in the small municipality of Arándiga, Zaragoza province, Aragon, Spain.
First documented in 1188 when King Alfonso II ceded it to Pedro Jiménez de Osca, and held by Martín Pérez de Villel in 1195, it was later conquered by Pedro I of Castile in 1363 and became a lordship of the Luna family in the 15th century.
The irregular-plan structure features 40-meter walls of tapial with pyramidal battlements, rectangular towers at each end, an entry arch tower, and remnants of a possible square or albarrana tower below. In regular condition with public ownership and some reinforcement work, it stands visitable near the village but currently serves no active use, preserving its medieval military heritage.
