Castillo de Arnedo crowns a rocky hill overlooking the town of Arnedo in La Rioja, northern Spain, with origins tracing back to Roman fortifications later rebuilt by Muslims in the 9th century as a key stronghold of the Banu Qasi dynasty.

This medieval powerhouse changed hands multiple times during the Reconquista, serving as the region's most important defensive site amid conflicts between Castile, Aragon, and Navarre, its red sandstone walls dominating the Cidacos River valley. 

Though now in ruins with remnants of towers and enclosures, the site offers dramatic panoramic views and stands as a highlight on La Rioja's Route of the Castles, embodying centuries of frontier warfare.
