Castillo de Arrés (Camino de Santiago)
Arrés, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Arrés is a Gothic-style tower from the second half of the 15th century, serving as the main remnant of a medieval fortress in the village of Arrés, Huesca province, Aragon, Spain, along the Camino de Santiago's Aragonese route.
Positioned at the town's highest point and linked to the 16th-century Church of Santa Águeda by remnants of an old wall, it was built with ashlar stone, stands over 10 meters tall, and features arrowslits for archery defense.
Together with the nearby Torre de Atarés, it protected the left bank of the River Aragón from threats during a time of regional conflicts, and today it forms part of Aragon's catalog of cultural assets of interest.
