Castillo de Autol is a medieval rock castle of probable Muslim origin dating to the 10th-11th centuries, perched on an impregnable crag overlooking the village of Autol in La Rioja Baja, northern Spain.
First documented in 1036 under tenant Lope Fortuniones, it changed hands repeatedly during the Reconquista passing through Navarrese kings, Alfonso VIII of Castile, and Jaime I of Aragon before belonging to nobles like Pedro Ximénez de Arnedo and later the Counts of Azpa.
Though now in progressive ruins with remnants of a square keep tower, curtain walls, and a water cistern amid a transformed patio, the site commands stunning views over the Cidacos River valley and awaits restoration as a tourist attraction.
