Castillo de Canillas de Esgueva
Canillas de Esgueva, Spain, Spain
The Castillo de Canillas de Esgueva is a ruined 15th-16th century medieval castle atop a small hill in the Valladolid village of the same name, Spain, originally built as a noble tower house likely linked to the Zúñiga family around 1466-1510.
It formed part of a strategic defensive line along the Esgueva Valley established in the late 9th century by Count Nuño Núñez during Castilla's expansion, though surviving remnants are from later construction.
Today, only two isolated corner towers or buttresses stand amid scattered debris, with the connecting wall lost by the 1970s; owned by the local council, the site offers valley views near the Romanesque church of San Miguel.
