Castillo de Castellanos o de Mohedano o de Moheda
Spain, Spain
Castillo de Castellanos, also known as Castillo de Mohedano or de Moheda, is a late 14th- to early 15th-century fortress in the municipality of Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain, within the Sierra de San Pedro region.
Originally a simple house owned by the Valverde lineage from the 13th century, it was fortified amid Reconquista repopulation efforts and later acquired by the Order of Santiago through maestre Gonzalo Ruiz de Valverde, passing to his daughter Juana de Cárdenas and her husband Pedro Portocarrero.
The structure served as a noble stronghold under the counts of la Puebla del Maestre until the end of the Ancien Régime, embodying medieval defensive architecture tied to military orders and frontier conflicts.
