Castillo de Castilnuevo
Castilnuevo, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Castilnuevo, located in the small village of Castilnuevo in Guadalajara province, Spain, is a well-preserved medieval fortress originally built by Arabs between the 8th and 12th centuries in Mudejar style.
Enlarged by Álvaro de Luna in the 15th century and later used as a residence by Ferdinand and Isabella during their travels, it transitioned from a military stronghold to a noble palace with a trapezoidal layout, square keep tower, and multiple corner towers.
Associated with figures like Alfonso I the Battler and briefly housing Joanna the Mad, the castle endured a notable 15th-century revolt and now stands as a cultural landmark blending Islamic and Christian architecture.
