Castillo de Consuegra crowns a hilltop in Consuegra, Toledo province, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, alongside iconic windmills, forming a quintessential La Mancha skyline often linked to Don Quixote imagery.

Originating as a 10th-century Caliphate watchtower, Alfonso VIII gifted it in 1183 to the Knights Hospitaller of St. John of Jerusalem, who rebuilt it in the 12th-13th centuries into a formidable fortress resembling Syria's Krak des Chevaliers, with a square core, four semi-circular corner towers, artillery walls, battlements, a circular albarrana tower, water cistern, chapel, chapter hall, and multiple gates.

It served as the Order's La Mancha priorato capital through medieval splendor, endured Napoleonic destruction in 1813 that razed its archives, and underwent 1960s restorations by local workshops, now offering guided tours amid panoramic plains views.
